Artist's Comments

The soldier had been marching all day, nonstop, tired and sweaty. Stopping would mean certain death, he knew... for too many brave men had already fallen, victims to the cruelty of war. And many more would fall before the day was done.
Yet, in this terrible noise and heat, in this terrible pain and despair, could he still find the strength to carry on?

When would the fighting finally end?
Would he even live to see the end?

The flowers reached out to him in voiceless compassion...

Wow...reminds me of a phrase in my favourite book... "To reach the clearing at the end of the path..." it means to go to a better place after this life...

Beautiful picture, the short story really compliments it!

Nice one :)

Thank you! :aww:
Yeah, the scenery there was absolutely breathtaking. I frequently got left far behind our tour group for the sake of pictures, but it was worth it. ^^

Oh, I do like that phrase. And it does indeed fit this. Thank you!

Glad you like the photo and the story. ^^ I always try my best with my art.

Well, it just doesn't do it justice if you don't put everything you have into it, does it? You should read the book, it's a series called The Dark Tower, by Stephen King, the first one is called The Gunslinger. I suggest you keep an eye out for it, a truly awesome book.
